When you hear the high pitched scream from your 3 year old you bolt! As I ran to Dawit in the yard the look of panic on his face scared me. As he was getting down from the trampoline he stirred up a new bee hive forming underneath the step stool and he got stung at least 2 times on his hand. After much loving and lots of ice he seemed to jump right back into action.
Each time he went outside he would say, "no bugs." I would agree with him and say Erik took care of it, no bugs. He talked about it all day but always ended it with, "no bugs." I started to wonder if he was trying really hard to reassure himself or if he was just letting us all know that the bugs were gone.
Because I was having the best creative memories party and ladies nite out ever Mike took all the boys out for pancakes and the park. They got home late but happy and tired. Around 3am I heard Dawit cry in that familiar high pitched scream, "MOMMY!" I ran in to him and found him hiding underneath his covers and when I pulled the covers down he said, "bugs." I was sad and relieved all at the same time. He could tell me what was wrong. He was having a bad dream about the bugs. There have been many times when either Israel and Dawit has woken up crying and they could not tell us what was making them so sad or upset. So for him to tell me what was wrong was such a relief.
I picked him and held his sweaty little body close and told him it was ok and the bugs were all gone. As he fell limp in my arms I prayed a sleepy momma prayer. God please no more bugs.
When I crawled back into bed I laughed not only because my hubby's snore was the offbeat to the crickets chirps but because of my prayer. So simple, no more bugs. How often we think we have to pray with the right words in the right order. That it needs to be formal and done in a certain way. How wonderful to know that all we need to do is come to our Loving Father and simply talk to Him. No more bugs God.
So when Dawit woke up this morning he had a surprise for me.
After a quick call to the the Doctor they said this was normal. I did not agree, but they said ice and some benadryl and he would be fine. Those pesky "bugs" have really made quite an impact on this little guy.
